Robert Downey Jr shares Avengers: Doomsday Easter eggs; fans spot Spider-Man

Actor Robert Downey Jr. chose Easter Sunday this year to drop a subtle teaser for Avengers: Doomsday, sparking fresh excitement among fans. The actor seized the holiday moment to hint at what’s to come, keeping the mystery alive while acknowledging his highly anticipated return to the franchise.

Excitement is at an all-time high as fans are looking forward to seeing Robert Downey Jr. finally portray Doctor Doom. To mark Easter, he shared a photo on Instagram showing Doctor Doom holding a basket full of Easter eggs. The eggs featured symbols of numerous Marvel characters that could likely appear in the film.

The basket was packed with nods to the MCU, featuring a blood-stained Captain America shield, Black Panther, and a cracked egg for the Avengers. Other hints included the X-Men, a crossed-out Fantastic Four logo, Namor, and Shang-Chi. Eagle-eyed fans also spotted two separate Spider-Man eggs, which immediately sent fans into a frenzy of theories about his part in the film.

YouTuber Ashish Chanchalani commented, “Oh i see a spidey and dr strange easter egg (sic).” A fan wrote, “There are 2 spider eggs (sic).” Another fan commented, “Left to right: Dr Strange, Ant man, Namor, Black Panther, New Avengers, Captain America, X-men, Shang Chi, Thor, Fantastic 4, Loki, and Spider-Man (sic).”

Avengers: Doomsday marks the fifth instalment in the Avengers franchise and features the full debut of Doctor Doom, portrayed by Downey Jr., following a cameo in Fantastic Four: First Steps. The film also sees the return of Captain America, played by Chris Evans, alongside the X-Men’s integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A recent teaser of Avengers: Doomsday showcased a crossover between Fantastic Four: First Steps characters and Wakandians from Black Panther. The teaser shows Letitia Wright as Shuri taking on her duties to serve the kingdom of Wakanda, along with Winston Duke aka M’Baku and Tenoch Huerta Meja aka Namor. The video ends with Duke shaking hands with Ben Grimm aka The Thing played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

Avengers: Doomsday will also feature actors Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Simu Liu, Tom Hiddleston, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and others in key roles.
