Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta are gearing up for the release of their new psychological thriller, Accused. On Saturday, Netflix India unveiled the film’s official trailer, which features the two leads portraying a same-sex couple. However, their bond is put to the test when a grave accusation surfaces, threatening to tear them apart.
In the film, Konkona portrays Dr Geetika, a distinguished gynaecologist who sees her professional reputation and marriage crumble under the weight of sexual misconduct allegations at her clinic. These charges surface just as she and Meera (Pratibha) are preparing to adopt a child together. While Meera appears somewhat unfazed, noting that Geetika has faced similar claims in the past, Geetika insists that this situation is far more severe, as she is now being publicly branded a sexual predator.
The trailer then follows the mounting strain on Geetika and Meera’s bond as tensions reach a breaking point. Geetika is forced to stand by as the career she meticulously constructed over decades disintegrates. Amidst escalating public judgment, the narrative delves into the heavy toll these pressures take on her intimate connections, questioning how easily public perception can eclipse the truth.
Written by Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani, Accused is helmed by director Anubhuti Kashyap. The psychological thriller is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawala, and Somen Mishra, with its digital premiere slated for Netflix on February 27, 2026.
Konkana was last seen in director Anurag Basu’s Metro…In Dino, featuring Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Saswata Chatterjee, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh in key roles.
Pratibha made her Hindi film debut with director Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies, featuring actors Sparsh Shrivastava, Nitanshi Goel, Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan.
