Aari Aari song from Dhurandhar: The Revenge is the new Punjabi party anthem

The makers of Dhurandhar: The Revenge have released the film’s first song, a revived version of Aari Aari by Bombay Rockers. The video was dropped online on Thursday, March 12, further building excitement around the film’s release. The track has been reimagined by Aditya Dhar, with music composed, arranged and programmed by Shashwat Sachdev.

The new version of Aari Aari from Dhurandhar 2 combines contemporary production with Punjabi influences. It features vocals by Navtej Singh Rehal (Bombay Rockers), Khan Saab, Jasmine Sandlas and Sudhir Yaduvanshi, while the rap portions are written and performed by Reble and Token. The lyrics have been penned by Irshad Kamil along with Bombay Rockers, and the score has been produced by Adam Lucas.

The video includes visuals from the film’s trailer, which was released last week, along with a few new glimpses showing Ranveer Singh in a destructive avatar as Hamza Ali Mazari.

All about the original Aari Aari

The track is actually more than two decades old. Aari Aari was originally released in 2003 by Bombay Rockers, as part of their debut album, Introducing.

At the time, Bombay Rockers were doing something quite different. Their idea was simple but bold: take Punjabi hooks, mix them with Western pop, hip-hop and club beats, and create a sound that could work both in India and across the diaspora. The result was a wave of Punjabi pop that felt global without losing its roots.

For a generation that grew up in the early 2000s, their songs were everywhere. Tracks like Rock Tha Party, Let’s Dance, Hit the Dhol, Sexy Mama, Sajna Ve, and Nava Nava became staples for a generation discovering that Punjabi vocals and English pop aesthetics could actually work brilliantly together.

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is preparing to explode on the screens on March 19, with special previews scheduled a day before — March 18. The film begins where the last part ended — and explores the rise of Hamza as the new king of Karachi’s Lyari, further strengthening his position in Pakistan’s criminal and political worlds.
