DEA Seizes 200+ Websites in India-Based Illegal Drug Syndicate Bust

US Cracks Down on Major India-Based Online Drug Network

The US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has seized more than 200 website domains connected to a sophisticated illegal drug syndicate operating from India. The crackdown, announced on Thursday, targets a network flooding American communities with deadly counterfeit pills.

Key Details of Operation Meltdown

Dubbed “Operation Meltdown,” the initiative focused on a network selling fake prescription pills laced with fentanyl and methamphetamine to US buyers. The seized websites were designed to mimic legitimate online pharmacies to market and distribute these dangerous drugs.

“These websites were part of a sophisticated network based in India that was flooding our communities with deadly counterfeit pills,” DEA Administrator Anne Milgram said.

Ongoing Investigation and Public Warning

The DEA confirmed the investigation is active, with collaboration underway with Indian authorities to identify and apprehend those responsible. The agency issued a stern public warning against purchasing prescription medications from unverified online sources, highlighting the extreme risk of lethal fentanyl doses in counterfeit pills.
