At least ten people were injured, nine of them seriously, in multiple stabbing incidents on a London-bound train in Cambridgeshire on Saturday. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has described the event as an “appalling incident.”

Emergency Response and Investigation

The British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed that ten victims were transported to hospital, with nine believed to have life-threatening injuries. BTP Chief Superintendent Chris Casey stated, “We’re conducting urgent enquiries to establish what has happened, and it could take some time before we are in a position to confirm anything further.”

He added, “At this early stage, it would not be appropriate to speculate on the causes of the incident.”

Political Response and Timeline

Prime Minister Keir Starmer posted on X that the incident was “deeply concerning,” adding, “My thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response.”

The incident occurred at 6:25 PM local time. Emergency services responded when the train stopped at Huntingdon station, approximately 75 miles north of London.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary reported that armed officers were dispatched to Huntingdon station at 7:39 PM, where two individuals were arrested. Train services on the route have been temporarily suspended.
