Here’s the complete list of bank holidays across India for the upcoming week:

  • October 20 (Monday) – Diwali/Naraka Chaturdasi holiday in 25 states including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Delhi, UP, and Kerala
  • October 21 (Tuesday) – Diwali (Deepavali) holiday in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Rajasthan
  • October 22 (Wednesday) – Multiple festivals including Bali Pratipada, Vikram Samvant New Year, and Govardhan Pooja in Gujarat, Maharashtra, MP, Sikkim, Assam, UP, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Himachal Pradesh
  • October 23 (Thursday) – Bhai Bij/Bhaidooj celebrations in Gujarat, Nagaland, Sikkim, UP, West Bengal, and Himachal Pradesh
  • October 27 (Monday) – Chath Puja (Evening) holiday in West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand

Banking Services During Holidays

During bank holidays, customers can access services through , mobile banking, UPI, and ATMs. However, cheque clearing and other counter services under the Negotiable Instruments Act will not be available.

Stock Market Schedule

Indian equity exchanges will remain closed on October 21 for Diwali Laxmi Pujan. Regular trading in equities, derivatives, and F&O will be suspended.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will conduct a special one-hour Muhurat Trading session from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM on October 21 for the auspicious beginning of the new financial year.

“The symbolic trading session will be held between 1:45 pm and 2:45 pm,” the stock exchanges said in separate circulars.

Last year, the Muhurat trading session was held from 6 PM to 7 PM, indicating the timing varies annually based on auspicious muhurat calculations.
