Deepinder Goyal Steps Down as Eternal Group CEO, Albinder Dhindsa Takes Over

Deepinder Goyal, founder of Zomato, has stepped down as Group CEO of its parent company, Eternal. Albinder Dhindsa, co-founder of Blinkit, will succeed him in the role, the company announced on Monday.

Key Changes in Leadership

  • Deepinder Goyal: Steps down as Eternal Group CEO but continues as MD & CEO of Zomato. He will remain on Eternal’s board and increase involvement in Blinkit’s operations.
  • Albinder Dhindsa: Takes over as Eternal Group CEO while continuing as CEO of Blinkit.

What the Leaders Said

In a post on X, Goyal announced his decision: “Today, I am going to step away from the Group CEO role, and subject to shareholders’ approval, will remain on the board of Eternal.” He added, “I will continue as the MD & CEO of Zomato, and will also be more involved in the day-to-day operations of Blinkit.”

Goyal expressed confidence in his successor, calling Dhindsa a “rockstar leader” who built “an incredible business at Blinkit.”

Dhindsa said he was “honoured” by the new responsibility and looked forward to “working with the amazing teams at Zomato and Blinkit to build a truly world-class organisation.”

Background and Approval

Dhindsa co-founded Grofers (later rebranded as Blinkit) in 2013. Zomato acquired Blinkit in 2022. Eternal was incorporated as the holding company for Zomato and Blinkit in 2023.

The leadership changes are pending shareholder approval.
