Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals is aggressively expanding into solar energy solutions as part of its strategy to double revenue within five years. The company, traditionally known for fans, lighting, and pumps, is now focusing on solar pumps and rooftop installations to drive growth.
Financial Targets and Solar Expansion
After closing FY25 with ₹7,864 crore turnover, Crompton targets ₹15,000 crore revenue by FY30. Group CFO Kaleeswaran Arunachalam confirmed the solar segment foray includes both agricultural pumps and residential rooftop systems. The company has already secured solar pump orders in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, while launching rooftop operations with a Telangana contract this month.
“When we look at the future, the entire agricultural pumps segment in India will be replaced with solar pumps. So, in that context, it is important that we win early here. The same goes for solar rooftops, which harness solar energy, for multiple use cases,” Arunachalam stated.
Manufacturing and Technology Investments
The growth strategy includes a ₹350-crore greenfield manufacturing plant, the company’s sixth facility, to be developed over three years. Arunachalam confirmed the debt-free company will fund this through internal accruals, with location finalization underway.
FY25 financials showed strong performance with net profit reaching ₹564.08 crore (28% growth) and net sales growing 8%. The company’s strategic 2.0 focus expands its addressable market from ₹80,000 crore to ₹1.3 lakh crore currently, targeting ₹2 lakh crore in coming years.
Indigenous Technology Platforms
Crompton has introduced homegrown technology platforms Nucleus and Xtech for energy-efficient products. Nucleus features BLDC-based smart motors for premium fans, while Xtech leverages local supply chains. These platforms emphasize smart solutions, energy efficiency, durability, and easy repairability.
The solar rooftop business involves supplying complete component suites including modules, inverters, and distribution boxes for residential installations. Company leadership expects strong demand momentum as India accelerates its clean energy transition.
