Himachal Pradesh Police’s latest addition, the Tata Curvv EV, is getting a lot of attention online. The electric SUVs, with their sharp design and modern look, have impressed many. However, not everyone seems to agree, and social media has mixed opinions about the move.

A video capturing the police vehicles has caught the internet’s eye. It begins with a man behind the camera showing a lineup of cars parked outside a Tata showroom. The scene is set against a misty backdrop, possibly in one of Himachal’s hilly towns.

The person filming can be heard saying that he came to the Tata showroom and spotted the new Tata Curvv EVs parked outside. Several white and black police vehicles, sporting sleek decals and red-blue sirens, can be seen lined up neatly. Their futuristic design stands out, especially against the foggy hills, giving them a striking presence.

As the camera moves closer, the viewer gets a better look at the polished exterior, a blend of sporty curves and robust police markings. Each car bears the ‘Police’ label and the Himachal Pradesh Police insignia on the doors. The rear design looks bold, featuring the signature Curvv tail lamps and a high stance suitable for hilly terrain.

Social Media Shares Its Views

“Himachal Police’s new vehicles Tata Curvv EV look absolutely amazing! Loving the use of Indian-made brands for our police, and EVs at that – smart and sustainable move!” a user posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Shared on October 9, the clip has gained over two lakh views so far, with hundreds of comments from users sharing their thoughts on the decision.

Not Everyone Is Impressed

Some users raised concerns about the practicality of using electric vehicles in Himachal’s cold and hilly regions.

“What if the charge runs out when chasing a criminal?” a person commented.

Another wrote, “Himachal Pradesh isn’t the best temperature for EVs. The battery performance will reduce in cold weather.”

“Wrong choice. Electric vehicles are worst in performance in cold regions for technical reasons,” a user added.

Questions Over Priorities

A few others questioned whether the government should be focusing on other issues first. “HP government should be looking after the flood-affected people. Is that what the center grant is for?” an individual remarked.

“Unnecessary spending. India has better priorities to fix before getting police such vehicles where you can get more efficient ones at much lower prices,” another said.

“Will these run well on hilly terrain?” asked a user, while another added, “EV vehicles aren’t good in winters; batteries will discharge frequently.”
