This is how Royal Enfield’s first electric motorcycle looks like in production form

Royal Enfield’s electric ambitions appear to be nearing a key milestone, as multiple near-production versions of the Flying Flea C6 have been spotted testing in Chennai without camouflage. The latest sighting offers the clearest indication yet that the brand’s first electric motorcycle is almost ready for launch.

First shown at EICMA 2024, the Flying Flea C6 marked Royal Enfield’s formal entry into the EV space. While earlier prototypes were heavily camouflaged including units tested in extreme cold conditions in Ladakh, these undisguised bikes suggest that development is in its final stages. A market introduction is expected in the coming months, ahead of its previously indicated early 2026 timeline.

Design stays true to concept

The test motorcycles confirm that the production version closely mirrors the concept showcased in Milan. The retro-modern aesthetic remains intact, drawing inspiration from the original wartime-era Flying Flea while incorporating contemporary electric architecture.

Notable design highlights include a circular LED headlamp, girder-style front suspension, a clean and minimal body profile, an exposed aluminium frame and a belt-drive setup mounted on the right side. The ribbed detailing around the battery pack, a distinctive element of the show bike has also made it to the road-going version. The latest test bikes were additionally seen equipped with a centre stand, pointing towards everyday usability considerations.

New EV platform

The Flying Flea C6 is built on Royal Enfield’s new platform, developed specifically for its upcoming electric range. This architecture will also underpin the S6 scrambler, which is expected to follow the C6 later in 2026.

While official technical specifications remain under wraps, the electric cruiser is likely to offer performance comparable to a mid-capacity petrol motorcycle. It is expected to feature a mid-mounted motor paired with a belt drive, disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS. Industry estimates suggest a battery pack in the 4–5kWh range, potentially delivering over 100km of real-world range, though final figures will be revealed closer to launch.

Royal Enfield has previously emphasised advanced battery engineering, including thermal management systems and a high level of weather protection, indicating that durability and longevity will be central to the package.

Premium positioning

The Flying Flea sub-brand is set to be positioned as a premium offering within Royal Enfield’s portfolio, likely priced between its 450cc and 650cc motorcycles. With production-ready bikes now testing in public view, an official announcement from the brand could be imminent.

If the timeline holds, the Flying Flea C6 will become Royal Enfield’s first electric motorcycle to go on sale, marking a significant shift for the heritage-focused manufacturer as it enters the EV era.
