Suzuki Vision e-Sky concept: Can this become the future WagonR electric?

Suzuki Motor Corporation has previewed its next-generation compact electric vehicle with the Vision e-Sky concept, revealed virtually ahead of the Japan Mobility Show 2025, which begins on October 30. The born-electric model encapsulates Suzuki’s new design philosophy of “Unique, Smart, Positive” aimed at creating EVs that blend practicality with everyday usability.

A fresh take on compact EV styling

The Suzuki Vision e-Sky adopts a tall-boy silhouette like the WagonR, hinting at a spacious cabin despite its compact footprint. At the front, a matrix LED light bar stretches across the fascia, complemented by C-shaped LED DRLs and flush-mounted headlamps. The chunky C-pillar gives the illusion of a floating roof, while aerodynamic wing mirrors, flush door handles, and a subtle rear spoiler with an integrated LED stop lamp add to its futuristic appeal.

The two-tone exterior finish featuring a contrasting white roof and blacked-out pillars accentuates the concept’s visual dynamism. Flared wheel arches and aero-optimised alloys further enhance its modern urban stance.

In terms of size, the Vision e-Sky measures 3,395mm in length, 1,475mm in width, and 1,625mm in height — making it slightly taller than the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso but shorter and narrower overall.

Inside the cabin: minimalist yet premium

Suzuki has designed the Vision e-Sky’s interior around simplicity and positive ambience. The huge steering wheel on the concept integrates touch-based multifunction controls, while a pair of digital displays provide the driver with key information such as speed, battery status, range, and lighting indicators.

A floating dashboard layout blends with wraparound LED accent lighting, creating a bright and airy feel. The drive selector, positioned neatly below the dash, enables smooth gear transitions.

Blue and purple accents dominate the interior palette, offset by beige trims on the armrests and lower seat sections. The split-type front seats, with their sculpted headrests, add to the premium and futuristic impression. Some of the switchgear, particularly the mirror controls may be repositioned before production to improve ergonomics.

Range and launch timeline

Although Suzuki has not revealed specific technical details, the Vision e-Sky concept is said to deliver a claimed range of over 250km on a single charge. Designed primarily for urban use, the mini-EV will cater to customers who rely on compact cars for daily commutes, shopping, and short weekend trips.

Production version of the Vision e-Sky will debut within FY26. The model is expected to serve as a global compact BEV, and could inspire a localised Maruti electric hatchback for India, possibly arriving between 2026 and 2027, built on the K-EV platform.
