Skoda Octavia RS sold out ahead of India launch on October 17

Days after opening bookings, Skoda Auto India’s upcoming Octavia RS has witnessed an overwhelming response with all 100 units allocated for India have already been booked. The performance sedan, returning in its most powerful avatar yet, will arrive as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) with prices expected to fall between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom). The official launch is slated for October 17, with deliveries commencing November 6.

Powertrain and performance

Under the hood, the new Octavia RS packs a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine producing 261bhp (195kW) and 370Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Power is sent to the front wheels, propelling the sedan from 0–100kmph in just 6.4 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph.

To enhance driving dynamics, Skoda has equipped the RS with progressive steering, sports suspension, and a sports exhaust for an engaging performance note.

Design and dimensions

The Octavia RS offers a 600-litre boot (expandable to 1,555 litres) and a 50-litre fuel tank. Measuring 4,709mm in length, 1,829mm in width, and 1,457mm in height, it rides on a 2,677mm wheelbase.

Visually, it stands apart with 19-inch dual-tone Elias alloy wheels, RS-specific bumpers, black exterior detailing, rear spoiler, and blacked-out badging. Customers can choose from five distinctive colours — Mamba Green, Race Blue, Velvet Red, Magic Black, and Candy White.

Interior and features

Inside, the cabin adopts a driver-focused all-black theme with Suedia upholstery, red contrast stitching, and carbon-finish dashboard accents. The flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, aluminium pedals, and ambient lighting underline its sporty credentials.

The front RS sport seats offer heating, ventilation, massage, and memory functions.

Technology and convenience

The new Octavia RS comes packed with advanced features:

  • 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay
  • Virtual Cockpit with RS-specific graphics
  • Head-Up Display (HUD)
  • 675W Canton premium sound system (11 speakers + subwoofer)
  • Wireless charging with active ventilation
  • USB-C fast charging ports (front, rear, and even on the IRVM)
  • Powered tailgate with virtual pedal
  • 360-degree Area View Camera and Intelligent Park Assist

Safety

The Octavia RS comes with 10 airbags, including front centre and driver’s knee airbags, along with ESC, ABS, EBD, ASR, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist. The sedan also offers Lane Assist, Blind-Spot Detection, Multi-Collision Braking (MCB), and Isofix mounts on both the front passenger and rear seats.

With all units already spoken for, the Octavia RS reaffirms its cult status among enthusiasts in India.
