Maruti Suzuki India reported a strong 12% year-on-year growth in total sales for January 2024, dispatching 2,36,963 units. This marks a significant increase from the 2,11,512 units sold in January 2023.

Segment-Wise Performance Breakdown

The company’s domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 2,00,631 units, a 12% increase from 1,78,755 units a year ago.

Compact Cars Lead Volume

Sales in the compact car segment, which includes popular models like the Baleno, Swift, Dzire, and WagonR, reached 1,01,542 units. This is a 9% growth over the 93,324 units sold in January 2023.

Utility Vehicles Show Strong Momentum

The utility vehicle (UV) portfolio was a standout performer. Sales of models like the Brezza, Grand Vitara, Jimny, and XL6 surged to 68,836 units, registering a robust 16% growth compared to 59,418 units last year.

Other Segments

The mini car segment, comprising the Alto and S-Presso, saw sales of 9,432 units. The mid-sized sedan Ciaz sold 1,324 units. Sales to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) were recorded at 9,804 units for the month.

Exports Continue Growth Trajectory

Maruti Suzuki’s exports also showed healthy growth, rising 18% to 26,528 units in January from 22,430 units in the same month last year.
