Maruti Suzuki e Vitara launched in India at Rs 10.99 lakh plus Rs 3.99/km for battery

After months of anticipation, Maruti Suzuki has finally announced the price of its first all-electric SUV, the e Vitara. First showcased at the Auto Expo in January 2025, the electric SUV has since been previewed to the media in India and the UK, but prices had remained under wraps until now. With the e Vitara, Maruti Suzuki formally enters India’s competitive mid-size electric SUV space, marking a significant shift for the country’s largest carmaker.

Price

The e Vitara is priced at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with the battery offered separately at an effective running cost of Rs 3.99 per kilometre. Maruti Suzuki is also providing a 60 per cent assured buyback value after three years. Buyers will benefit from an eight-year warranty on both the vehicle and the battery pack, one year of complimentary charging, and a free home charger with installation worth Rs 50,000.

Customers can explore the e Vitara, schedule a test drive and make bookings at Nexa showrooms or through the official website with an initial booking amount of Rs 21,000.

Built on new HEARTECT-e platform

The e Vitara is underpinned by the brand-new HEARTECT-e platform, engineered around three core principles: strength and structural rigidity and advanced high-voltage protection.

Exterior design

In terms of dimensions, the SUV measures 4,275mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,640mm in height, with a 2,700mm wheelbase. The flat-floor architecture optimises cabin space while accommodating the high-capacity battery pack beneath.

Design-wise, the e Vitara adopts a clean and contemporary look with strong proportions that lend it a confident road presence. It also features adaptive grille shutters that automatically adjust according to driving conditions to improve efficiency.

The SUV offers three driving modes: Eco, Normal and Sport along with a dedicated Snow mode. A regenerative braking system enables a one-pedal driving experience, further enhancing urban usability and efficiency.

Interior design

Inside, the e Vitara debuts one of the most premium cabins seen in a Maruti Suzuki product. The dashboard is dominated by a twin-deck floating console layout, complemented by a newly designed bespoke steering wheel, a fixed-glass sunroof, and soft-touch dual-tone materials with multi-colour ambient lighting.

The SUV features an integrated 10.1-inch infotainment display and a 10.25-inch multi-information digital instrument cluster. Wireless connectivity and a premium ‘Infinity by Harman’ sound system enhance the overall in-car experience.

Comfort is a key highlight, with ventilated front seats and a segment-leading 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. At the rear, passengers get a 40:20:40 split seat with sliding and reclining functions, along with a rear armrest with cupholders and easy boot access—offering flexibility for both passengers and luggage.

Battery options and range

The e Vitara’s electric powertrain uses a compact 3-in-1 system integrating the motor, inverter and transmission. Two battery options are available.

The 49kWh battery powers a front-mounted motor producing 144bhp and 189Nm of torque. The larger 61kWh battery is paired with a front motor generating 174bhp and 189Nm.

Built using advanced Cell-to-Pack technology and supported by a sophisticated thermal management system, the battery pack is engineered to function in extreme temperatures ranging from -30-degree Celsius to 60-degree Celsius.

Maruti Suzuki claims a driving range of over 543km for the higher-spec variant, while the 49kWh version offers a claimed range of 440km.

Safety

Safety has been prioritised in the e Vitara’s development, with over 50% of its structure constructed from high-tensile steel. The SUV also features an advanced battery protection system.

It comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS, offering a suite of autonomous driving aids. Standard safety features include seven airbags (including a driver-side knee airbag), all-disc brakes, an electronic parking brake, tyre pressure monitoring system and e-Call functionality.

With competitive range figures, premium features and an all-new EV architecture, the e Vitara represents one of Maruti Suzuki’s most important launches in recent years.
