Maruti Suzuki Dzire becomes India’s bestselling car in FY2026: How it stands out in its segment

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has emerged as India’s bestselling car in FY2026 (April 2025 to March 2026), with total sales of around 2.3 lakh units. The strong performance has also helped Maruti Suzuki dominate the sedan segment with a 57.2 percent market share and achieve its highest-ever annual sales.

The Dzire’s continued success reflects its popularity among Indian buyers looking for an affordable, reliable, and fuel-efficient car.

One of the biggest reasons behind the Dzire’s popularity is its competitive pricing, starting from Rs 6.25 lakh. Positioned in the compact sedan segment, the car offers a balance between affordability and features. This makes it attractive for both first-time buyers and families upgrading from smaller cars.

Lower maintenance costs of around Rs 4,000–Rs 6,000 per year and a huge service network further add to its value, making ownership easier for customers across urban and rural markets.

Strong mileage and efficiency

Mileage is one of the key factors behind the high sales of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Offering mileage of around 24–25 kmpl, it stands out in its segment. Fuel efficiency is one of the key factors for Indian car buyers, and the Dzire performs well in this area. The car offers high mileage figures, especially with its petrol engine and CNG options, helping customers save on running costs.

With rising fuel prices, buyers are increasingly choosing cars that offer better efficiency, and the Dzire fits well into this requirement.

Practical design and comfort

The Dzire’s sleek yet practical design also contributes to its success. It offers a compact size suitable for city driving, along with a spacious 5-seater cabin and boot space of 382 litres.

The interior is designed to provide comfort, with user-friendly features and improved build quality. It gets a 9-inch touchscreen and connectivity features like Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and more.

Brand trust and wide reach

Maruti Suzuki’s strong brand trust and extensive dealership network also play a major role in the Dzire’s huge sales. Customers prefer brands with proven reliability and easy access to service centres. The company’s ability to consistently deliver value-driven products has helped maintain customer confidence over the years.

The Dzire’s strong performance has significantly contributed to Maruti Suzuki’s record annual sales in FY2026. As demand for practical and fuel-efficient cars continues, models like the Dzire are likely to remain popular among Indian buyers.
