The Bollywood film Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, first released in 2018, will return to theatres nationwide this week. The re-release was announced by the film’s lead actor, Kartik Aaryan, as the film approaches its eighth anniversary.
According to the makers, the movie will be back on the big screen shortly after the Holi festival on March 6. This will give audiences another chance to experience the comedy and drama that made it a hit.
Kartik made the announcement on his Instagram account on Monday by sharing a video montage from the film and a new poster. In the caption, he wrote, “This Friday… Relive the laughter and emotions once again on the big screen! #SonuKeTituKiSweety re-releases in theatres on 6th March! (sic).”

Directed by Luv Ranjan and produced by Luv Films and T-Series Films, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety also featured Nushrratt Bharuccha and Sunny Singh in lead roles.
The story centres around a close friendship between Kartik and Sunny’s characters tested by romance. The film’s blend of comedy, drama, and catchy songs contributed to its broad appeal when it first premiered.
Box office performance
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety became a surprise box office success. According to trade website Sacnilk, the film earned a total worldwide nett collection of Rs 156 crore. In India, it collected Rs 108 crore nett.
This success marked a pivotal moment for Kartik, who was then seeking a breakthrough in his career. The film’s popularity helped him secure a series of successful projects in the years that followed.
Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming projects
Kartik’s recent work includes Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, which also starred Ananya Panday. Despite high expectations, the film struggled at the box office. It earned Rs 32.95 crore net in India and Rs 49.5 crore gross worldwide and was met with a lukewarm reception from both critics and audiences.
Looking ahead, the actor is involved in two upcoming films for 2026. He is currently filming Naagzilla, a horror comedy produced by Dharma Productions. Additionally, he will star opposite Sreeleela in an untitled film directed by Anurag Basu. As of now, release dates for these projects have not been announced.
