Rajasthan schools use yoga, interactive learning to help students manage exam stress

The Rajasthan Education Department has announced a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening mental health support for students in government schools, amid growing concerns over exam-related stress and anxiety.

Officials said the focus is on building a school environment that is safe, encouraging and emotionally supportive, so that students grow not only academically but also with confidence and emotional resilience.

FOCUS ON EMOTIONAL BALANCE ALONGSIDE ACADEMICS

School Education Secretary Krishna Kunal said the department is prioritising students’ overall development by introducing activities that help them manage pressure and express emotions in healthy ways.

Measures such as yoga sessions, gratitude-based classroom activities and interactive learning tools are being used to help students stay calm, focused and emotionally balanced, especially during examination periods.

PLAY-BASED LEARNING FOR YOUNGER STUDENTS

A key component of the initiative is the introduction of Jaadui Pitara, a play-based learning kit designed to support cognitive, language and social development. Through stories, games and creative exercises, younger students are encouraged to think freely, communicate better and interact positively with peers.

Officials said this approach helps children learn in a stress-free environment while also strengthening emotional well-being from an early age.

AGE-APPROPIRATE SUPPORT FOR SENIOR STUDENTS

For older students, the department promotes emotional expression through camps, sports activities and motivational content. Schools are also using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) labs and smart televisions to screen awareness materials related to mental health and stress management.

According to the department, early feedback suggests that these steps have helped students approach examinations with greater confidence and a more positive mindset.

The education department said it will continue to expand these initiatives to ensure students are better equipped to handle academic pressure while maintaining emotional health.
