The Kerala Story 2 director slams Anurag Kashyap: He has a problem with everything

Director Kamakhya Narayan Singh has responded to Anurag Kashyap’s criticism of his film The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond. He defended the intent and subject of his film in a video statement, while alleging Kashyap has a problem with everything, be it the film industry or Netflix.

Singh shared a video on his X handle and said, “Anurag Kashyap Ji ne kaha hai ki koi aisa kisiko khichdi bhi nhi khilata, Main ekdum maanta hu, koi kisiko aise laddoo bhi nahi khila sakte Par durbhagyvas, humare samaaj mein humari masoom betiyon ko unka dharam parivartan karneke liye unko beef khilaya ja raha hai, yeh ek crime hai (Anurag Kashyap Ji said that no one even feeds someone khichdi like that; I completely agree, one can’t even feed someone laddoos in that manner. But unfortunately, in our society, our innocent daughters are being fed beef to force their religious conversion, which is a crime).”

The problem is that Anurag Kashyap Ji has become mentally weak; he has an issue with everything—he has an issue with Brahmins, he has an issue with Netflix, he has an issue with the film industry; this man has an issue with everything),” he emphasised.

“Inhone ek film banayi thi That Girl in Yellow Boots, usme inhone kalpana kia hain ek pita aur putri ke anetik sambandh ko. Ek sabhya samaj mein yeh sochne ke paray hain, par yeh aadmi mansik roop se durbal hogaya hain aur samaaj ne bhi isko seriously lena chod dia hain. Inki saari filme pichle kahi saalon se flop hai. Me param pita parmeshvar se prathna karta hu ki inko sadhbudhi de (He made a film called The Girl in Yellow Boots, in which he imagined an unethical relationship between a father and a daughter. This is beyond the imagination of a civilised society, but this man has become mentally weak, and society has also stopped taking him seriously. All his films for the past several years have been flops. I pray to the Almighty Father to grant him better sense),” the director added.

Kashyap had earlier slammed the makers of The Kerala Story 2 and called it a propaganda film. In an interaction with media at Kochi airport, he said, “Kerala Story movie is s***. The movie is propaganda and bull****. Aise kaun beef khilata hai?Aise toh koi khichdi bhi nahi khilata hai (Who even feeds beef like that? You wouldn’t even serve khichdi that way). The purpose of the film is to make money. They just want to please everybody and divide people. The filmmaker is a greedy man. He just wants to make money.”

The film features Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia, and Aishwarya Ojha in the lead roles. Following the massive impact of The Kerala Story, the sequel promises to push boundaries even further, going beyond comfort, beyond silence, and beyond denial. Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, co-produced by Aashin A Shah under the banner Sunshine Pictures.

The film is set for a theatrical release on February 27, 2026. It will be available in Kannada and Telugu.
