Supreme Court recruitment 2026: Notification released for multiple posts, apply online February 23 onwards

The Supreme Court of India has released an official recruitment notification inviting online applications for multiple posts in its Registry. The vacancies include Assistant Editor (Supreme Court Reports), Assistant Director (Supreme Court Museum), Senior Court Assistant (Museum) and Assistant Librarian. The notification was issued on February 18, 2026. Online registration will begin on February 23, 2026 and will close on March 8, 2026.

Eligible Indian citizens can apply through the official website, sci.gov.in. The recruitment will be conducted through written tests, computer tests (for select posts) and interviews. Candidates must check post-wise eligibility, age limits and experience requirements before applying online.

Supreme Court recruitment vacancy details

The recruitment covers four posts. Five vacancies have been announced for Assistant Editor (Supreme Court Reports). One post is available for Assistant Director in the Supreme Court Museum. Two posts are for Senior Court Assistant in the Museum. Fourteen posts have been notified for Assistant Librarian, including reserved category seats.

The Assistant Editor post carries Pay Level 12 with an initial basic pay of Rs 78,800.

The Assistant Director post is under Pay Level 11 with an initial basic pay of Rs 67,700. Senior Court Assistant and Assistant Librarian posts fall under Pay Level 8 with an initial basic pay of Rs 47,600. Allowances will be given as per rules.

Age limits vary by post. The upper age limit ranges between 30 and 40 years. Age relaxation will be given as per Government of India norms.

Step 2: Click on the “Recruitment” link on the homepage.

Step 3: Find the advertisement dated February 18, 2026.

Step 4: Click on the PDF link to open the notification.

Step 5: Download and save the file for future reference.

Candidates must apply online between February 23 and March 8, 2026. Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted.

Eligibility criteria and selection process

For Assistant Editor, candidates must have a law degree recognised by the Bar Council of India and at least three years of relevant experience.

The selection process includes a written test and interview.

For Assistant Director, candidates must have a Master’s degree in Museology with first class and at least five years of research experience. The selection includes a written test, a qualifying computer test and an interview.

Senior Court Assistant requires a Master’s degree in Museology with minimum 55 per cent marks and two years of experience. Assistant Librarian requires a degree in Library Science, a computer diploma and two years of relevant experience.

Written tests will be conducted in Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Interviews will be held in Delhi.
