China copycat again! Range Rover inspired EV showcased

Chinese copy products have often been discussed in India. These copies are seen in many categories, from electronics and watches to even cars. Now, a new SUV from China has been going viral on social media for a similar reason. The model has been dubbed the Xpeng GX. Interestingly, the SUV looks very similar to the popular luxury SUV, the Range Rover Sport.

The Xpeng GX is a six-seater electric SUV recently revealed by Chinese carmaker XPeng. Pictures shared online show that its design closely resembles the style and overall look of a Range Rover-type SUV.

It carries the same boxy and tall shape as Range Rover. The roof appears to float, the window pillars are blacked out, just like on a Range Rover.

There is also a straight, flat line running along the side of the SUV from the front to the rear, which is another well-known design element. The door handles sit flush with the body.

Even the angle of the front windshield and the middle pillars looks very similar to the proportions seen on Range Rover Sport.

In the past, Chinese vehicles such as the Landwind X7 drew worldwide attention for resembling the Range Rover Evoque so closely that Jaguar Land Rover took legal action, and production was halted after a trademark ruling.

The case of the XPeng GX is another example. While the Chinese brand says it has revealed the SUV as its flagship model, responses on social media focus heavily on the design which looks heavily inspired by the Range Rover Sport.
