Rain to recede across North India on Thursday, temperatures to rise

Weather is set to transition across North India as a Western Disturbance begins to move away.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the influence of this system will result in a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by two to four degrees Celsius over the plains of Northwest India starting from Thursday, February 19.

Devendra Tripathi, founder of Mausam Tak and weather vlogger for Kisan Tak, noted that clouds in North India will move towards the east.

He further stated that the intensity of these clouds will decrease as they shift. A slight dip in minimum temperatures is likely.

This shift marks the end of the recent spell of rain and hailstorm activity that affected parts of Rajasthan and the National Capital Region (NCR).

WILL THE RAIN STOP IN NORTH INDIA TOMORROW?

For the residents of Delhi and its surrounding areas, the weather will turn mostly clear. The IMD predicts a mainly clear sky with mist during the morning hours for the capital.

Maximum temperatures in Delhi are expected to range between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures will likely settle between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius.

This represents a slight warming trend, as temperatures remain one to three degrees Celsius above the seasonal normal.

IS THERE ANY RAIN FORECAST FOR THE HILLS?

While the plains dry up, isolated light rainfall or snowfall may persist in parts of the Western Himalayan Region.

Specifically, Uttarakhand is likely to witness isolated rainfall activity on February 19.

Meanwhile, a low pressure area over the Equatorial Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal is expected to move towards Sri Lanka.

This system will bring isolated rainfall to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands tomorrow.

Weather analyst Navdeep Dahiya noted that the recent rains provided a much-needed reprieve from the abnormal mid-February heat, with day temperatures dropping to the range of 22 to 25 degrees Celsius.

However, with the Western Disturbance exiting, the heat is expected to return gradually over the coming days.
