Budget 2026: AI Platform Bharat Vistaar Launched for Farmers
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has unveiled ‘Bharat Vistaar’, a major AI-driven platform announced in the Union Budget 2026-27. The initiative aims to transform farm support by delivering real-time, localised information to farmers in their native languages.
Key Features of Bharat Vistaar
- Provides hyper-local weather forecasts and soil health advisories.
- Offers crop-specific best practices and real-time market prices.
- Supports multiple Indian languages and dialects via text or voice.
- Integrates with existing schemes like PM-KISAN for seamless delivery.
“Bharat Vistaar is a game-changer for our ‘Annadata’,” Sitharaman said during her budget speech. “This AI-powered platform will democratize access to critical knowledge, empowering every farmer, regardless of language or location, with information tailored to their specific field and crop.”
How It Works and Expected Impact
The platform is designed to bridge the digital and linguistic divide in agriculture. It will deliver information directly to farmers’ mobile devices. The government plans to link it with farmer welfare schemes for efficient service.
Officials stated that Bharat Vistaar will include a community forum for farmers to share experiences, creating a collaborative network. Pilot projects in select states reportedly increased yields by 15-20% by optimising inputs and preventing diseases.
Rollout Plan
The rollout is scheduled to begin next fiscal quarter, with a phased nationwide expansion over two years. This initiative is a cornerstone of the government’s strategy to boost and rural incomes through digital infrastructure.
