UIDAI Launches ‘Aadhaar SAHAJ’ App for Offline Services

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new mobile application, ‘Aadhaar SAHAJ’, enabling citizens to access key Aadhaar services without an internet connection. The free app is available on both Android and iOS platforms.

Key Features of the Aadhaar SAHAJ App

  • Offline Functionality: Update your mobile number, verify Aadhaar details, and download your Aadhaar card without needing an active internet connection.
  • QR Code Verification: Use the built-in scanner to verify Aadhaar details offline via QR code.
  • Biometric Security: Lock and unlock your biometric data directly from the app for enhanced security.
  • Track Requests: Check the real-time status of your Aadhaar update requests.
  • Find Centres: Locate the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre and book appointments for services.

According to UIDAI, the app is designed to provide a seamless and secure experience for over a billion Aadhaar holders. It supports multiple Indian languages, making it accessible to a wider population.

Security Advisory from UIDAI

The authority has issued a crucial warning to users. Citizens must download the ‘Aadhaar SAHAJ’ app only from official app stores—Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Users should be cautious of fake or duplicate apps that may attempt to steal sensitive Aadhaar data.

UIDAI also reiterates standard security practices: keep your Aadhaar details secure and never share them with unauthorized persons or platforms.

This launch is a significant step in UIDAI’s ongoing mission to make Aadhaar services more user-friendly, accessible, and secure for all Indians.
