Pakistani JeM Terrorist Neutralised in Kathua Encounter

Security forces killed a Pakistani terrorist affiliated with the banned Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) outfit in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Tuesday. This marks the second such operation in the Jammu region within 24 hours.

Key Takeaways

  • A Pakistani JeM terrorist was neutralised in Kathua’s Hiranagar area.
  • This is the second encounter in the Jammu region in 24 hours, following one in Doda.
  • Security forces have intensified counter-terrorism operations across Jammu.

Operation Details

The encounter began after security forces, acting on specific intelligence, launched a cordon and search operation in Hiranagar. The terrorist opened fire on the troops, who retaliated effectively, leading to his elimination.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu, Anand Jain, confirmed the slain individual was a Pakistani national and a member of JeM. He stated the operation was intelligence-based and that search activities in the area are ongoing.

Increased Security Operations

This incident follows another encounter in Doda district on Monday, where a terrorist was also killed. In response to a recent series of terror attacks, security forces have significantly ramped up anti-terror operations across the Jammu region.
