Flipkart Eliminates Seller Commission on Products Under ₹1,000

In a major move to boost small businesses and customer affordability, Flipkart has announced a zero commission model for eligible sellers listing products below ₹1,000. The Walmart-backed e-commerce giant revealed this updated structure on Friday, 14 November 2025, as reported by PTI.

Key Takeaways

  • Zero commission fees for eligible sellers on products priced under ₹1,000
  • Initiative aims to support MSMEs and improve customer affordability
  • Zero commission model extended to all products on Shopsy platform
  • Move expected to boost regional and emerging brands in digital economy

What is Flipkart’s New Commission Structure?

Flipkart’s revised commission structure eliminates fees entirely for eligible sellers who list products below the ₹1,000 price point. This strategic decision is designed to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) while enhancing customer affordability and helping sellers manage business costs more efficiently.

“Under this updated structure, all eligible sellers listing products below ₹1,000 will not be charged a commission fee. This initiative is aimed at supporting MSMEs, helping them improve customer affordability while managing the cost of doing business more efficiently,” said the company cited in the agency report.

Expansion to Shopsy Platform

The zero commission benefit has been extended to all products sold on Flipkart’s Shopsy platform, regardless of price. This expansion positions Shopsy as a key platform for sellers targeting the hyper-value segment and further enhances affordability for customers across price categories.

“The zero commission model is now extended to all products on Shopsy, irrespective of price, further solidifying its position as a key enabler for sellers targeting the hyper-value segment and enhancing affordability for customers,” said Flipkart.

Executive Perspective on MSME Support

Flipkart’s Senior Vice President and Head of Marketplace, Sakait Chaudhary, emphasized the significance of MSMEs, noting they contribute nearly 30% to India’s GDP. The company aims to support this crucial segment by removing barriers and enabling more regional and emerging brands to enter the digital economy with confidence.

“For our millions of customers, this zero commission model will translate into more affordable choices, especially in essential and value-led categories where prices below ₹1,000 dominate demand. It reflects our vision of building an inclusive, accessible, and growth-oriented e-commerce ecosystem that supports the ambitions of every seller,” said Sakait Chaudhary, cited in the agency report.

The initiative represents Flipkart’s continued commitment to while driving affordability in the competitive e-commerce landscape.
