ISRO’s LVM3 Rocket Rolls Out for November 2 Satellite Launch
India’s heaviest rocket, the LVM3, has been moved to its launch pad at Sriharikota, marking the final preparations for its November 2 mission carrying the advanced CMS-03 communication satellite.
Key Mission Details
- Launch Vehicle: LVM3-M5 (5th operational flight)
- Satellite: CMS-03 communication satellite
- Launch Date: November 2, 2025
- Rollout Date: October 26, 2025
- Destination Orbit: Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO)
Record-Breaking Satellite
Weighing approximately 4,400 kilograms, CMS-03 will become the heaviest communication satellite ever launched from Indian soil. Developed by ISRO, this multi-band satellite is designed to enhance communication coverage across mainland India and surrounding oceanic regions.
The satellite will provide sharper connectivity and increased bandwidth for civil, strategic, and maritime users, bolstering India’s communication infrastructure and expanding digital access to remote territories.
LVM3’s Growing Legacy
This mission underscores LVM3’s versatility and reliability as India’s primary heavy-lift launcher. The rocket previously made history in July 2023 by successfully launching , making India the first nation to achieve a soft landing near the Moon’s south pole.
Following that milestone achievement, LVM3 now returns to its core role of launching satellites for both national and commercial purposes.
Final Preparations Underway
Pre-launch checkouts, fueling, and final readiness rehearsals will be conducted over the coming days before the countdown begins. This launch will demonstrate India’s continued capability to deploy heavier payloads into GTO – a critical requirement for communication and navigation satellites.
With this mission, ISRO aims to strengthen India’s position in space-based communication and reaffirm LVM3’s vital role in the nation’s future deep-space and human spaceflight endeavors.
