Samsung Boosts AI Chip Design Talent Hunt in India

Samsung Ramps Up AI Chip Talent Hunt in India

South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics is aggressively recruiting semiconductor design talent in India, positioning the country as a key hub for its AI chip development ambitions.

Key Takeaways

  • Samsung is hiring for 16 R&D positions across System LSI, memory, and foundry divisions
  • India’s semiconductor market is projected to reach $100 billion by 2030
  • New local leadership appointment signals shift to talent-driven R&D model

Strategic Hiring Push

Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) has posted openings for research and development engineers across its major semiconductor divisions. The recruitment drive targets 16 specialized positions including system-on-chip design engineers, memory design engineers, SSD firmware engineers, and graphics driver developers.

Most roles focus on next-generation technologies like system semiconductor integration, memory design, firmware development, and AI computation optimization.

Transforming India Operations

Samsung aims to transform its Bengaluru-based SSIR facility from a research support center into a global design stronghold for AI semiconductors. The company recently appointed Rajesh Krishnan, a local memory sector veteran, as the new head of SSIR.

This leadership change signals Samsung’s shift toward a local talent-driven R&D model in India.

Aligning with National Initiatives

Samsung’s talent expansion aligns with the Indian government’s Semicon India initiative, which aims to accelerate domestic semiconductor ecosystem development. The Indian semiconductor market is projected to reach $100 billion by 2030, attracting major global players like Micron Technology.

“Samsung’s latest actions appear to be a strategic move to position India as one of its core global semiconductor design hubs in the AI era,” an industry official stated.
