Arjun Tendulkar’s crystal-ball call on IPL’s latest star Mukul Choudhary goes viral

Social media has been abuzz with chatter around Lucknow Super Giants’ latest sensation, Mukul Choudhary, following his match-winning knock against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Thursday. The young batter’s rapid rise, sparked by that impact performance, has quickly made him one of the most talked-about emerging names in the IPL.

Interestingly, Arjun Tendulkar is also drawing praise for his eye for talent after a recent podcast clip resurfaced, in which he had spoken highly of Choudhary even before his breakout moment.

“Mukul Choudhary hits amazing sixes. Yesterday, in a practice match, I saw his sixes. I was really impressed. He hits everywhere – square leg, point, upper cut, behind the bowler. I was really impressed by his batting,” Arjun Tendulkar had said on a podcast with Subhankar Mishra.

Mukul Chaudhary’s unbeaten 54 off 27 balls against KKR underlined his reputation as a fearless finisher. Coming in when LSG were under pressure chasing 78 off 42, he initially struggled against Sunil Narine but shifted gears dramatically in the final overs, taking on bowlers like Kartik Tyagi, Vaibhav Arora, and Cameron Green to seal a memorable win. His ability to hit across all areas of the ground and handle high-pressure situations has quickly made him a trending topic, especially after Arjun’s comments resurfaced and went viral on social media.

Mukul Choudhary reminded fans of vintage MS Dhoni, hitting helicopter shots at will. Mukul smashed seven sixes and two boundaries for his 27-ball unbeaten 54. When LSG needed 30 off the last two overs, Mukul, without any recognised batting partner at the other end, hit effortless sixes, leaving fans in awe and the LSG set-up beaming with pride.

RISING STAR IN LSG’S SETUP

Chaudhary’s breakthrough innings has positioned him as a potential long-term asset for LSG, with his composure under pressure drawing praise from both teammates and experts. With Justin Langer also highlighting his elite athleticism and game awareness, the youngster is being seen as more than just a one-match wonder.

“What I love most about him is that he’s a real athlete. The way he runs between the wickets is elite, like Virat. But the other thing is his game sense. We’ve had some practice games, and the way he talks about the game feels like he’s played 300 matches already. He’s got power, he’s a great athlete, and he’s got grace. As we both know, that’s a pretty good combination,” said LSG coach Justin Langer.

LSG will next face Gujarat Titans at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 12, where all eyes will once again be on whether Chaudhary can build on his sensational start and continue his rise in the IPL.
