Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is set to testify before the US Congress on June 10, 2026, regarding his relations with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Gates, has previously apologised for being in contact with Epstein after his name appeared in the Epstein Files.
As per a report from the BBC, the Microsoft co-founder will appear before the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating Epstein’s wrongdoing. A spokesperson for Gates said he is “looking forward to answering all the committee’s questions to support their important work.”
Why was Bill Gates in Epstein Files?
Bill Gates’ communications and relationships with Jeffrey Epstein were included in more than three million documents released earlier this year by the US Department of Justice.
Do note that Gates has not been accused of misconduct by any of Epstein’s victims. Inclusion in the investigative files does not imply criminal activity either.
Bill Gates has addressed his links to Epstein in the past. The Microsoft co-founder cancelled his scheduled visit to the India AI Impact Summit earlier this year, after his connections to the convicted sex offender came to light.
Jeffrey Epstein knew about Bill Gates’ affairs
Gates has previously acknowledged that he had affairs with two Russian women, which Epstein later learnt about. In one note, Jeffrey Epstein wrote that he helped Gates acquire drugs “in order to deal with consequences of sex with Russian girls.”
During a meeting with staff from the Gates Foundation, Gates apologised for having relations with Epstein. He stated, “I did nothing illicit. I saw nothing illicit.” He has also stated that he “never spent any time with victims, the women around him [Epstein].”
The Microsoft co-founder previously told 9News that his interactions with Epstein were limited to dinners. Gates also claims that he never visited the convicted sex offender’s infamous island. “Every minute I spent with him I regret and I apologise that I did that,” Gates said.
A spokesperson told BBC, “While Mr Gates acknowledges that meeting with Epstein was a serious error in judgment, he unequivocally denies any improper conduct related to Epstein and the horrible activities in which Epstein was involved.”
Other tech biggies in Epstein Files
The Microsoft co-founder is not the only one from the tech world to be named in the Epstein Files. Google co-founder Sergey Brin, PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, and former Microsoft executive Steven Sinofsky, have also been named in the documents.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk has also been named. Though Musk denies ever visiting Epstein island.
The House Oversight Committee’s request for Gates’s testimony follows other high-profile appearances, including former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in February.
Additional figures such as Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and former Attorney General Pam Bondi are expected to testify soon.
Meanwhile, billionaire investor Warren Buffett said he has not spoken to Gates since the details of Gates’s association with Epstein became public. Buffett expressed a desire to avoid being drawn into the matter as a potential witness and noted that the controversy has strained communication between them.
