Delhi govt opens 2025–26 scholarships for SC, ST, OBC students. Apply by April 30

The Delhi government has started accepting applications for scholarships aimed at students from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC) categories for the 2025–26 academic year.

Eligible candidates can apply through the e-district portal until April 30, as per an official announcement released on Monday.

The initiative covers multiple state-funded and centrally sponsored schemes, benefiting students enrolled in schools, colleges, and universities across Delhi.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS

One of the key offerings includes reimbursement of tuition fees and other mandatory charges for SC, ST, and OBC students studying in Classes 1 to 12 in recognised schools.

This benefit is available to students from families with an annual income of up to Rs 3 lakh, provided they meet attendance and academic performance requirements.

Additionally, under the Mukhyamantri Vidyarthi Pratibha Yojana, financial assistance will be given to school students.

Those in Classes 9 and 10 can receive Rs 5,000 annually, while students in Classes 11 and 12 are eligible for Rs 10,000, subject to fulfilling income and merit criteria.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR HIGHER AND PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION

Students pursuing professional, technical, or higher education courses can also apply for merit-based scholarships. Depending on the course level and whether the student is a hosteller or day scholar, financial aid ranges from Rs 8,000 to Rs 24,000 per year.

Applicants must have scored at least 60 per cent in their previous academic year to qualify.

To further recognise academic excellence, the government will award Rs 25,000 to top-performing students from these categories under the Dr B R Ambedkar State Topper Award across various university disciplines.

SUPPORT FOR STUDYING ABROAD

The government has also extended support for SC students planning to pursue postgraduate or doctoral studies abroad. Selected candidates can receive financial assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh per year.

The total funding is capped at Rs 10 lakh for master’s programmes and Rs 20 lakh for PhD courses, subject to eligibility conditions such as income limits and age criteria.

Overall, these schemes are designed to ease financial barriers and encourage students from disadvantaged backgrounds to continue their education and access better academic opportunities.
