Volkswagen India has teased the updated Volkswagen Taigun ahead of its official debut in India on April 9, 2026. The upcoming model will be the company’s second launch this year, and more details are expected to be revealed closer to the launch date. The expected price of the new Taigun ranges between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 22 lakh.
Once launched, the updated Taigun will compete with several compact SUVs in India, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. More details about the SUV are expected to be announced in the coming days leading up to its launch.
The teaser highlights the SUV’s silhouette in a side profile, hinting at noticeable design changes. The front fascia is expected to get new LED headlamps connected by a full-width LED light bar. At the rear, the Taigun is likely to feature redesigned LED tail-lamps, also linked by a light bar.
The SUV could also get revised bumpers with faux skid plates and illuminated Volkswagen logos at both the front and rear, giving it a more modern look.
Speaking on the announcement, Mr. Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen India, said, “The new Taigun will redefine driving dynamism. Engineered locally and crafted with purpose, it is built to inspire confidence, capability, and excitement.”
Interior and feature upgrades
While the interior has not been officially revealed, the updated Taigun is expected to receive new upholstery and trim options. It may also come with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Other expected features include ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof. Higher variants could offer more premium additions, while some features may be available across a wider range of trims.
Engine and transmission options
Mechanically, the Taigun facelift is likely to continue with the existing engine lineup. This includes 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines. A 6-speed manual transmission is expected to remain standard.
Alongside the existing 7-speed dual-clutch automatic for the 1.5-litre engine, Volkswagen may introduce a new 8-speed automatic gearbox option.
