Good News For EV Owners: The long-time taken in charging the Electric Vehicles at public charging spots have been an irritating moment for the EV owners. However, there is good news for Delhi residents and even those visiting Delhi by their EVs. Now, EV owners can almost fully charge their car in around 30 minutes at Anand Vihar Namo Bharat Station. The Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, i.e rapid rail, envisioned to promote green transport in Delhi-NCR, has come out with yet another significant step towards a sustainable future, with an aim to helping the EV owners travelling via the Namo Bharat trains.
NCRTC (National Capital Region Transport Corporation) has commissioned the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor’s largest fast electric vehicle (EV) charging station at Anand Vihar station. This newly installed facility will offer advanced fast-charging services to EV users, making their journeys more convenient, said the NCRTC. The initiative will promote clean and green mobility and help in reducing pollution levels in the region.
The charging station is equipped with 10 high-voltage charging units, each with a capacity of 480 kW. These units can charge up to 10 electric vehicles simultaneously at high speed. The system is capable of charging four-wheelers up to approximately 80% in just 30 minutes. Charging points for heavy commercial electric vehicles have also been provided at the station.
“EV users can avail this facility through the ElectreeFi mobile application, which is available for download on the Google Play Store. The entire charging process is managed through the app. Users need to register on the app and book an online charging slot at the desired Namo Bharat station. Once booked, vehicles can be charged within minutes. The app also allows real-time monitoring of charging status and enables seamless digital payments,” said the NCRTC.
With the launch of this facility at Anand Vihar, EV charging services are now available at a total of eight stations on the corridor, including Sahibabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North and Meerut South. Both fast and standard charging stations have been installed across these locations.
Passengers who use private electric vehicles to reach Namo Bharat stations can now conveniently charge their vehicles at the station itself. This facility will not only benefit Namo Bharat commuters but also residents in nearby areas. Easy access to charging infrastructure is expected to encourage greater adoption of electric vehicles, especially among those who were hesitant due to lack of charging facilities.
Through the installation of these fast charging stations, NCRTC is not only enhancing passenger convenience but also contributing to national goals of clean energy and sustainable development. The organisation is working towards expanding EV charging infrastructure at other stations along the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor to further promote clean mobility in the region.
