Pam Bondi’s first reaction to Trump’s firing decision revealed: ‘Tried to change his mind’

US President Donald Trump has removed Attorney General Pam Bondi from her position. The decision came amid growing frustration over her performance and her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Bondi’s reaction to being fired

According to a Daily Mail report, Bondi pleaded with Trump not to remove her during a tense moment at the White House. She reportedly asked for more time in the role but Trump did not change his decision.

“She was unhappy and tried to change his mind,” a source said.

Trump informed her of the decision shortly before his prime-time address on the Iran war and the announcement was later made publicly.

Why Trump took this decision?

The firing had been building for some time with tensions growing over several issues. According to the Daily Mail, one major reason was Trump’s belief that Bondi had tipped off Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell about the FBI’s plans to release documents related to his alleged ties to a Chinese spy, Christine Fang.

“She’s intervening in those matters. The White House wasn’t pleased she was intervening due to her personal friendship with Swalwell,” a source said.

Additionally, during her time, Bondi removed many career Justice Department staff and shifted focus toward immigration cases. She also followed Trump’s push to act against his political opponents with prosecutors indicting James Comey, Letitia James and John Bolton and trying to bring charges against six members of Congress, according to The Guardian.

Her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files added more pressure. Her contradictory statements led to calls for transparency and Trump reportedly grew frustrated.

Who takes over her place now?

Trump said his Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will take over for now, calling him “a very talented and respected Legal Mind,” and added that he will serve as Acting Attorney General.

According to reports, Blanche has been raising his profile in recent weeks, making public appearances and engaging more with Trump’s political base.

At the same time, Lee Zeldin who currently leads the Environmental Protection Agency is also being considered as a top contender for the permanent role.
