Speaking after the match, LSG batter Mukul Choudhary put an end to speculation around Mayank’s fitness.
“He is fit. The rest is team management and the captain and how they are planning to use him,” Mukul said.
This statement aligns with earlier comments from head coach Justin Langer, who had confirmed that the young pacer had cleared all fitness tests and was bowling at full pace in training sessions ahead of the DC clash.
Despite that, Mayank did not even feature among the impact substitutes, surprising many given LSG’s need for pace on a surface that offered assistance early on.

LSG were bowled out for 141 and failed to defend the total as Delhi chased it down comfortably, powered by a composed knock from Sameer Rizvi.
The decision to bench a bowler capable of consistently clocking 150 kmph is now under scrutiny. On a pitch that has recently shown more bounce and movement, Mayank’s pace could have added a different dimension to LSG’s attack.

“Yes, when we had pre-season camp in Chennai, we spoke. He said don’t take too much pressure, we will back you fully. Play your natural game,” Mukul said.
“Even after that also, he says same thing — no need to take pressure, just do what you think, play your game.”
