Apple is reportedly adding a feature in Siri that will allow it to process multiple requests at once. The feature is expected to arrive as part of the iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 operating systems due later this year.
The feature will enable users to combine multiple requests in a single prompt. For instance, in one prompt a user could ask Siri to check the weather, create a calendar appointment and send a message. Siri currently only supports follow-up requests without repeating the wake word, but each action still needs to be handled separately.
The ability to process multiple requests in a single query has become standard among modern AI assistants powered by large language models, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
The feature is part of Apple’s effort to overhaul Siri with AI features and turn it into a more capable tool.
Apple may unveil upgraded Siri at WWDC
The company is expected to unveil the upgraded Siri at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 8. Apple first demonstrated a new, more AI-infused Siri in June 2024, but it was delayed due to multiple engineering issues.
Bloomberg in a previous report said Apple plans to open its Siri voice assistant to artificial intelligence services beyond its current partnership with ChatGPT. The report says Apple could allow third-party AI apps to integrate directly with Siri.
This would enable users to route their queries to services such as Alphabet’s Gemini or Anthropic’s Claude directly from within the assistant.
Bloomberg’s Gurman also reported that Apple is testing a standalone Siri app for devices such as the iPhone, iPad and Mac later this year. The app could allow users to access their past interactions directly. Previous conversations may appear in the main interface either as a list or as a grid of rounded rectangles with text previews.
The report also suggested deeper integration of Siri across system apps. An “Ask Siri” toggle may allow users to send selected content directly into a new Siri conversation. Additionally, a “Write with Siri” option could appear at the top of the keyboard menu, allowing users to generate or edit text using the assistant.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg says some of the new Siri capabilities are labeled as “Preview,” suggesting Apple may position them as unfinished at launch.
