IPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max launching soon: Expected price, camera, processor and more

Apple is all set to launch its iPhone 18 Pro lineup in September this year. While the Cupertino-based tech giant, in its signature style, has continued to keep mum on its plans for the upcoming flagship lineup, numerous leaks have given us much detail on the plans for the devices.

iPhone 18 Pro series: What to expect?

iPhone 18 Pro launch timeline:

Apple is said to be pushing the iPhone 18 launch window to Spring next year alongside the iPhone 18e. However, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to debut in September, like last year, alongside the foldable iPhone.

iPhone 18 Pro series price:

While there has been an increase in the prices of hardware components, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that the iPhone 18 Pro models may not see a price hike, with Apple reportedly planning to absorb the increased memory and manufacturing costs.

This suggests that the iPhone 18 Pro could begin at $1,099, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could start at $1,199. However, if recent history is anything to go by, Apple could still hike the Indian prices of these devices while keeping the US prices stable.

iPhone 18 Pro series specifications:

Display:

Leaks suggest that Apple may not change the overall sizes of the devices, with the iPhone 18 Pro expected to feature a 6.3-inch 120Hz ProMotion OLED display, while the Pro Max is likely to come with a 6.9-inch panel. Recent leaks suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro lineup could get up to a 35 percent smaller Dynamic Island cutout compared to its predecessor.

While the Orange-coloured iPhone was the showstopper for Apple last year, the company is reportedly working on a deep red colour finish this year. Apart from that, the company is also said to be testing Burgundy, Coffee Brown, and Purple colour options for its flagship lineup.

Apple is also said to be ditching the dual-tone look of the iPhone 17 Pro series in favour of a more unified back glass and aluminium frame colour palette.

Processor:

The upcoming Pro models are likely to be powered by Apple’s next-generation A20 chip using TSMC’s 2-nanometre manufacturing process. The new processor is expected to make the devices up to 15 percent faster and 30 percent more efficient than their predecessors.

Moreover, Apple is also said to be using Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module technology for the processor to integrate RAM directly on the same wafer as the CPU and Neural Engine to improve the performance for Apple Intelligence features.

Apple will reportedly use the extra space on the phone to fit a bigger 5,100 to 5,200mAh battery on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, which would be the biggest battery ever on an iPhone.

The company is also said to be using Apple’s C2 modem on the new iPhone lineup, ditching the Qualcomm version on their predecessors. The new modem could add support for full internet access over satellite, while also allowing third-party apps to work when a 5G network is unavailable.

Camera:

The Apple flagships are expected to come with the same triple 48MP camera setup as their predecessors. However, Apple could add larger apertures for both the main and telephoto lenses to improve low-light photography and reduce shutter speeds.

The company is also said to be developing a three-layer stacked image sensor developed by Samsung to reduce noise and increase dynamic range.
