Tottenham Hotspur have sacked interim manager Igor Tudor with immediate effect amid the club being under relegation threat from the Premier League. Tudor remained in the job for just weeks, during which Spurs’ performances continued to dip, and they were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.
The 47-year-old was brought in to steer the ship after the London club decided to sack Thomas Frank. But under Tudor, Spurs lost five matches, drew one and won just a solitary game, which was the second leg of their Round Of 16 UCL clash against Atletico.
The 0-3 home loss to Nottingham Forest proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Tudor, who also lost his father right after the game and had to leave for home. Along with Tudor, Goalkeeping coach Tomislav Rogic and Physical coach Riccardo Ragnacci also left their roles. Spurs said that an update on the new head coach will be provided in due course.
“We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for Head Coach Igor Tudor to leave the Club with immediate effect. Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci have also left their respective roles of Goalkeeping Coach and Physical Coach.”
“We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts during the past six weeks, in which they worked tirelessly. We also acknowledge the bereavement that Igor has recently suffered and send our support to him and his family at this difficult time.”
“An update on a new Head Coach will be provided in due course,” read the statement from Tottenham Hotspur.
WHO WILL SPURS TURN TO?
After sacking Tudor, Spurs are struggling to find options for installing as their new head coach. According to reports in the British media, Sean Dyche is one name being linked with the London club at the moment, after he was dismissed as the head coach of Nottingham Forest.
Spurs are just one point away from the relegation zone, with them facing Sunderland away from home after the international break on April 12.
