Although the revamped version of Siri is yet to arrive, new reports continue to reveal what users might expect from Apple’s upgraded AI-powered voice assistant. According to a recent report, the new Siri could allow users to choose different AI models for different queries.
A report by Bloomberg suggests that Apple plans to open its Siri voice assistant to artificial intelligence services beyond its current partnership with ChatGPT. The report says Apple could allow third-party AI apps to integrate directly with Siri. This would enable users to route their queries to services such as Alphabet’s Gemini or Anthropic’s Claude directly from within the assistant.
The feature is reportedly expected to arrive with the iOS 27 update. However, Apple has not officially revealed the capabilities of the revamped Siri yet.
The Bloomberg report also suggests that the move could be part of Apple’s broader strategy to generate additional revenue. According to the report, Apple may take a share of subscriptions sold through third-party AI services that integrate with Siri.
New Siri expected to be previewed at WWDC 2026
Apple is expected to preview the upgraded Siri on June 8, 2026 during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). However, the report notes that the company’s plans could still change.
In another report, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that the upgraded Siri is currently being tested internally under the codename Campo. The new Siri is designed to better understand requests, complete tasks inside apps, access news content, and search the open web using Apple-built interfaces and models.
Gurman also reported that Apple is testing a standalone Siri app for devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and Mac later this year. The app could allow users to access their past interactions directly. Previous conversations may appear in the main interface either as a list or as a grid of rounded rectangles with text previews.
Most features in the standalone Siri app are expected to resemble those found in existing chatbots. These could include uploading documents for analysis, switching between voice and text modes, marking favourite chats, saving older conversations, searching across interactions, and starting new chats.
The report also suggests deeper integration of Siri across system apps. An “Ask Siri” toggle may allow users to send selected content directly into a new Siri conversation. Additionally, a “Write with Siri” option could appear at the top of the keyboard menu, allowing users to generate or edit text using the assistant.
