Realme 16 5G to launch on April 2 with selfie mirror and 7,000mAh battery

Realme is gearing up to launch its next smartphone, the Realme 16 5G, on April 2. One of its standout features is a small mirror on the back, dubbed a “selfie mirror,” designed to help users take selfies using the rear camera. The smartphone was earlier unveiled in select global markets, including Vietnam, in January, and is now set to arrive in India. Ahead of the launch, Realme has gone live with a dedicated microsite on its official website, revealing key specifications and design details of the device.

Realme 16 5G specs, design, colours and features

The Realme 16 5G will feature a 6.57-inch display and a slim 8.1mm profile, weighing 183 grams. It will pack a massive 7,000mAh battery, similar to its predecessor — Realme 15 — with support for 60W fast charging, and the company claims up to six years of battery health. The global variant of the smartphone is said to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo chipset.

For photography, the device will be headlined by a 50MP Sony primary camera. It will run on Android 16 with Realme UI 7.0 out of the box and is expected to receive three Android OS upgrades along with four years of security updates.

The smartphone will also include a vapour chamber cooling system with a 6,050 square millimetre heat dissipation area for better thermal management. In terms of durability, it is rated IP69 for dust and water resistance.

Design-wise, the Realme 16 5G comes with a major change from its predecessor. It features a horizontal camera bar that stretches across the top of the rear panel. The pill-shaped camera module houses three lenses along with a unique selfie mirror placed beside them, allowing users to frame shots using the rear camera. The back panel appears sleek with a smooth finish. The phone also adopts a flat-edge design, with the power button and volume rockers positioned on the right side.

The Realme 16 5G is expected to be available on Flipkart in two colour options: Air Black and Air White.

For context, the Realme 15 features a 6.8-inch OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of up to 6,500 nits. Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300+ chipset. In terms of cameras, the smartphone comes with a dual rear setup led by a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide lens. On the front, it houses a 50MP selfie camera capable of recording 4K videos. The device is backed by a large 7,000mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.
