Actor Alan Ritchson, known for his role in the series Reacher, has been cleared of any wrongdoing following a violent altercation with his neighbour in Tennessee.
The Brentwood Police Department confirmed on Tuesday night that their investigation had concluded. Authorities determined that Ritchson acted in self-defence during the incident.
Police close case after investigation
Police reviewed available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, before deciding that no criminal charges would be pursued. Ritchson also declined to press a potential reckless endangerment charge against his neighbour, Ronnie Taylor.
“After reviewing available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, authorities determined that no criminal charges will be pursued,” the police said in a statement.
“Mr Ritchson’s actions were found to be in self-defence. Although a potential reckless endangerment charge was considered, Mr Ritchson declined to pursue charges. With the agreement of the District Attorney’s Office, the case is now closed, and no further action will be taken,” it added.
Neighbour had alleged assault
In an interview with TMZ, Taylor had alleged that the dispute began over loud dirt bike noise. He claimed Ritchson was riding a green Kawasaki bike at high speed and revving the engine excessively, disturbing the neighbourhood.
According to Taylor, he responded with a hand gesture, which angered Ritchson. The neighbour said the situation escalated on Sunday when he confronted the actor, who then allegedly attacked him. Taylor claimed Ritchson punched him at least four times while he was on the ground, causing swelling and bruises. However, he did not seek hospital treatment.
Taylor also said there were witnesses to the fight and that Ritchson left the scene immediately after the incident.

Ritchson recently appeared in the third season of Reacher, which is streaming on Prime Video.
Alan Ritchson is married to Catherine Ritchson. The couple met as teenagers in Florida during a dance class. They married in 2006 and have three sons.
