Zomato hikes food delivery platform fee to Rs 14.90 from Rs 12.50 per order

Food delivery platform Zomato has increased the platform fee it charges users by Rs 2.40 per order, according to details available on its app.

The platform fee now stands at Rs 14.90 per order on a pre-GST basis, up from Rs 12.50 earlier. This marks another round of increase, with the last hike having taken place in September 2025.

After including taxes, Zomato’s rival Swiggy is currently charging a platform fee of Rs 14.99 per order. Typically, both companies tend to follow similar pricing trends when it comes to such charges.

The latest hike comes at a time when competition in the food delivery space is seeing new developments. Urban mobility startup Rapido has recently launched its food delivery service, Ownly, in Bengaluru. The company has said it will not charge any additional fees from customers or restaurants apart from a delivery fee.

This move by Rapido could put some pressure on existing players, especially as customers have increasingly raised concerns over multiple charges added to food delivery orders.

The increase in platform fees also comes amid rising crude oil prices. Higher fuel costs can impact delivery operations, affecting both restaurants and delivery partners associated with platforms.

For users, the change means a higher overall bill per order, even as competition in the sector continues to evolve.
