Benchmark stock market indices closed higher on Friday, ending the week in green as investors bought shares at lower levels due to the recent slump over Middle East conflict.
The S&P BSE Sensex added 325.72 points to end at 74,532.96, while the NSE Nifty50 gained 112.35 points to end at 23,114.50.
At the closing bell, Tech Mahindra Ltd led the gains, rising 3.01%, followed by Infosys Ltd up 2.90%, Tata Steel Ltd gaining 2.81%, Trent Ltd advancing 2.60%, and Titan Company Ltd climbing 1.93%.
HDFC Bank Ltd was the worst performer, falling 2.29%, followed by Bharat Electronics Ltd down 1.00%, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd slipping 0.57%, Indigo Ltd declining 0.25%, and Bajaj Finance Ltd down 0.16%.
Volatility rose slightly, with India VIX up 0.04%, while broader markets were positive as Nifty Midcap 100 gained 0.67% and Nifty Smallcap 100 edged higher by 0.09%.
Among sectoral indices, losses were seen in Nifty Financial Services 25/50, down 0.78%, Nifty Realty, which fell 0.93%, Nifty Media declining 0.48%, and Nifty Private Bank, which slipped 0.52%.
On the gaining side, Nifty IT rose 2.17%, Nifty PSU Bank gained 2.07%, Nifty Pharma was up 1.99%, Nifty Healthcare Index added 1.89%, and Nifty Metal climbed 1.45%. Nifty Auto advanced 0.84%, Nifty Consumer Durables gained 0.72%, Nifty Oil & Gas rose 0.55%, and Nifty FMCG was up 0.31%.
