‘Parks, tourists sites not safe’: Iran vows to hunt down US, Israeli officials worldwide

Iran issued a serious threat to US and Israel, vowing to hunt down their officials worldwide, even on vacation. The military went on to warn that tourists spots, parks and recreational centres would be “unsafe” for their enemies.

“We are watching your cowardly officials and commanders, pilots and wicked soldiers,” Iranian armed forces spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi said, quoted by state TV.

“From now on, based on the information we have on you, the promenades, resorts and tourist and entertainment centres in the world will not be safe for you either,” he added.

Abolfazl Shekarchi issued the warning on Friday as Iran continues to face airstrikes from the United States and Israel.

His remarks are likely to heighten fears that, if the conflict intensifies, Tehran could turn to militant operations beyond West Asia as a means of exerting pressure.

US and Israeli leaders have claimed that weeks of sustained strikes have severely weakened Iran’s military capabilities. The air campaign has also reportedly eliminated several top figures, including the country’s supreme leader, the head of its supreme national security council, and a number of other senior military and political officials.

Iran launched strikes on Israel as well as energy facilities in neighbouring Gulf Arab states, even as people across the region observed one of the holiest days in the Muslim calendar.

At the same time, Iranians were celebrating the Persian New Year, Nowruz, though festivities were largely subdued this year due to the ongoing conflict.
