When is GTA 6 expected to arrive for PC users: Everything we know so far

Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to launch on consoles on November 19. However, PC users may have to wait significantly longer before they can access the highly anticipated open-world game. Rockstar Games has not confirmed a PC release timeline yet, and based on the company’s past release patterns, a delay between console and PC versions appears likely.

The upcoming title is expected to draw a large number of players at launch, particularly in its single-player mode, and attract an even wider audience once online multiplayer becomes available. However, players who rely solely on PC platforms are unlikely to be part of the initial release window.

Why PC users may have to wait longer for GTA 6

Rockstar has historically released its major titles on PC well after their console debuts. Grand Theft Auto V launched on consoles in September 2013 but arrived on PC in April 2015, marking a gap of around 19 months. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 saw a shorter delay of about one year between its console and PC releases.

If the latter timeline is used as a reference, GTA VI could reach PC users sometime in late 2027, possibly around the holiday season.

However, this remains an estimate, as Rockstar has not shared any official details.

One reason for the staggered release approach is the additional complexity of PC platforms. Unlike consoles, PC environments vary widely in terms of hardware and performance, which requires additional optimisation.

There are also issues with cheating and hacking, especially in multiplayer mode. Rockstar may likely sort out the console version before releasing the PC version.

Currently, PC gamers have limited options to get GTA VI at launch, apart from jumping to a current console like the PS5 or Xbox Series X. Unless Rockstar announces the release date of GTA VI on PC, the wait for the PC version is likely to extend beyond the initial console window.
