Starlink launches in Kuwait, Elon Musk confirms satellite internet rollout amid US-Israel-Iran war

Elon Musk’s satellite-based internet service, Starlink, is now accessible in Kuwait. The tech billionaire announced this move on X. Users can now purchase the Starlink kits to use the service. This move comes at a time when Kuwait has found itself impacted by the US-Israel war with Iran, with Tehran targeting critical infrastructure and military sites in the country, including the Kuwait International Airport.

Musk wrote on X, “Starlink now available in Kuwait!” The official Starlink X account shared an image, displaying that entire country was now under its coverage.

Starlink launches in Kuwait amid US-Israel-Iran war

Elon Musk announced Starlink’s Kuwait launch on X.

According to Starlink website, it has received approvals from Kuwait’s Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA).

Kuwait faced internet disruptions earlier this month. Though CITRA stated that the issue was not related to the conflict.

What is Starlink?

Starlink is a satellite-based internet service that uses thousands of low Earth orbit satellites. These satellites orbit at an altitude of only about 550 kilometres, which allows for quick data transfer, providing high-speed and low-latency internet.

It is primarily focused on providing fast data speeds in remote regions with low density.

In January this year, Starlink received approval from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to deploy 7,500 additional second-generation satellites.

How to use Starlink in Kuwait?

Users can sign up via the Starlink website. The Residential plan is priced at 31 KWD (roughly Rs 9,300) per month. You can opt for the mini kit, priced at 92 KWD (roughly Rs 27,600), or go for the standard kit that will cost 122 KWD (roughly Rs 36,700).

The service is also providing a free first month.

Will Starlink come to India?

Elon Musk has been eyeing the Indian market for some time now. The company is currently trying to get regulatory approvals to bring the service.

However, in December 2025, due to a technical glitch, the Starlink website showed that users can buy the service for Rs 8,600 per month.

Following the issue, Starlink VP Lauren Dreyer wrote on X, “We’re eager to connect the people of India with Starlink’s high-speed internet, and our teams are focused on obtaining final government approvals to turn service (and the website) on.”
