Gujarat Titans announced former India wicketkeeper-batter Vijay Dahiya as their new assistant coach ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 season on Wednesday, March 11. A respected figure in Indian cricket, Dahiya represented his national side in 19 ODIs and two Tests and enjoyed a successful domestic career with Delhi before moving into coaching.
He later guided Delhi to the 2007–08 Ranji Trophy title, establishing himself as a capable mentor in domestic cricket. Over the years, he has also built an impressive coaching rsum across domestic tournaments and the IPL. Earlier, Dahiya also served as the assistant coach of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), working within the Andy Flower-led support staff group since the team’s inception in 2022, before parting ways ahead of the IPL 2024 season.
He has also worked with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise as their assistant coach and served as a talent scout for Delhi Capitals (DC). Dahiya’s appointment comes shortly after the Titans brought in former Australia batter Matthew Hayden as their batting coach, further strengthening the team’s backroom staff ahead of the upcoming season.
Since making their debut in 2022, Gujarat Titans have quickly established themselves as one of the most consistent sides in the IPL. The franchise reached the playoffs in three of their first four seasons and lifted the title in their inaugural campaign. The Shubman Gill-led side also made it to the playoffs last season before being knocked out in the Eliminator after losing to the Mumbai Indians.
With a strengthened coaching structure now in place, Gujarat Titans will aim to build on their impressive record as preparations gather pace for the IPL 2026 season. Gujarat will begin their campaign against the Punjab Kings on Tuesday, 31 March, in Mullanpur.
